Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) located in Erlangen-Nurberg is known as one of the preeminent centres of excellence for computer science in Germany and it is the second-largest university in Bavaria with its 39000 students. FAU is a preeminent centre of computer science in Germany and Europe as a whole: its computational engineering master programme is one of the most well established, and well known of its kind and the university is a centre of excellence in Germany for applied high-performance computing.

Furthermore, double degree students will benefit from the specialized focus of the computational engineering group, with advanced specializations in mechatronics, computational optics, information technology, thermo- and fluid-dynamics, mechanics and dynamics, computational materials science, and medical imaging. The more application-oriented program at FAU will be well complemented by the highly rigorous mathematical, methodological, and algorithmic training which is the focus at USI. Indeed, this double degree provides students with a unique opportunity to build a very robust capacity in both applied and methodological skillsets.

The Master in Computational Science, located in Lugano, at USI (Università della Svizzera italiana) has a unique educational programme design, focused on developing advanced capabilities in data-driven simulation methods, with applications and specializations across a variety of sub-disciplines of computing.

The Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT) is located about 2 hours East of Helsinki in Finland in the city Lappeenranta with about 73,000 people on the shores of Lake Saimaa. The Master's Programme in Data-Centric Engineering at LUT is based on blending applied mathematics with computer science and engineering. In the Masters's Programme in Data-Centric Engineering, you will study at the intersection of applied mathematics, computational statistics and artificial intelligence. During your studies, you will learn about artificial intelligence and machine learning and how mathematics and statistics form their basis. This will enable you to understand data and modern modelling and analysis methods, such as deep neural networks, profoundly and apply them to problems with societal impact.

The USI-POLIMI double degree is with the Master in Computational Science (USI) and the Master in HPC Engineering (POLIMI) and it is supported by the European programme EUMaster4HPC.

The collaboration within the Master of Statistical Sciences (Laurea Magistrale) at Università di Bologna (Italy) leverages the combined resources of USI and UNIBO to mould powerful, application-oriented competencies in simulation and statistical data science, with a high-level focus on methods and algorithms.
